David Constance has 30 years of experience in engineering procurement, the last 14 of which have been in the Rail Industry. David has an engineering HND and holds an advanced diploma from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
David's UK rail experience is mainly in project based materials engineering, specialising in signalling, E&P and telecoms. He has also been client facing in the supply chain and has held direct procurement and supplier management roles.
David’s skills and experience enable him to offer a complete materials engineering, procurement and work package management service to the Rail Industry. He has worked on many major infrastructure projects including:
Staffordshire Alliance - The rail sector’s first pure alliance which between 2012 and 2016 delivered a £250M upgrade to the West Coast Main Line ahead of time and under budget, replacing Norton Bridge Junction with a new flyover and hence removing the last major bottleneck on the West Coast Main Line. The Staffordshire Alliance project, a joint venture of Laing O'Rourke, Network Rail, Atkins and VolkerRail, was named as the winner of Collaborative Working accolade at the 2016 UK Railway Industry awards and also Best Major Project in 2017.
Water Orton Corridor - Resignalling and recontrolling the main line from Birmingham to Derby including 22 no. point conversions.
